Sophistication and comfort attract tourists and new residents to this city. Its clean and spacious local beaches that stretch for 4 kilometres, the high rock, the pretty Old Town and the fish market. Own a house in Calpe and live your own Spanish fairy tale.

Thousands of Europeans come to Spain, to Calpe, to try fresh prepared sea food: fried squid and cuttlefish in their own inks. Costa Blanca is very famous for its gastronomic treasures, each town has its own culinary traditions, but they all share one thing: the love of fresh local products.

Life in the city: What can a property owner in Calpe do?

Cosy villas and apartments in Calpe are located along the coast, small bays and peninsulas, with the majestic Peñón de Ifach rock over it. The landscape is so picturesque and unique that it became a local landmark a long time ago, and the rock itself is a nature reserve. Due to a special climate, the rock slope has rare plants and more than 80 species of birds living there.

Another interesting place is at the bottom of the cliff. It is the Salinas Salt Lake, abandoned by salt miners one hundred years ago. Amazing beauty and views open from St. Anthony peninsula. You have to visit and see it. This place is hidden from prying eyes, to get there you need to come through a 25-meter long tunnel running through the rock, and a serpentine of narrow footpaths. The entire track is equipped with ropes, which help to cross this path easily.

Whoever has invested or wishes to invest in a house in Calpe can enjoy these and many other attractions every day of the year.

Beaches, diving and wine: pure bliss for those who rent a summer house in Calpe

The beaches of Calpe are especially beautiful. There are four beaches in Calpe, and each one of them, has its own beauty. In fact, they are one of the main reasons why people decide to rent a summer house in Calpe. The biggest and most popular of them is Arenal-Bol beach with fine golden sand, rent of umbrellas, sunbeds and the famous "Blue Flag" quality mark. Thankfully to the excellent climate and weather, the beach season in Calpe is open from March to October. It has a mild climate of 32 °C in summer and 16°C in winter. And the water in the peak season warms up to 27 °C. Therefore, all visitors are welcome to conquer the depths of the Mediterranean Sea almost all year around.

If we talk about the depths, there are diving centres in Calpe, and their service can compete with professionals of the "big coast". Here you are welcome to try kite and wind-surfing or have a ride around the rock with an unusual multi-seat catamaran that has panoramic windows below the water level. On the coast of Calpe, you can rent yachts for sea walks, and perhaps you will even be lucky to see the underground cellars of the only underwater winery in the Mediterranean Sea near the coast of Calpe - Vina Maris. Just close your eyes and imagine how beautiful it could be to enjoy living in an apartment for rent in Calpe.

Information about vineyards, blends and old traditions of wine making, are featured in the article: Wineries of Costa Blanca: Where to find the best wine?

Another interesting beach of Calpe will surprise you with ancient baths. What is it and why should you take them? The small sandy beach of Cantal Roig is known for its unusual archaeological find, made in the 20th century near the coastal zone. It is a salt bath built during the Roman period and preserved to the present day. Try them and you will feel like a Roman patrician bathing in them.

How to get there?

In Calpe, there are all the amenities of a modern city: roads will easy to get you from the outskirts of the city, to the centre and back, the two main cities of Costa Blanca: between Valencia and Calpe is an hour and half of drive, and Alicante about an hour. Calpe has green areas, a small park, cosy villas with gardens, apartments, shops with reasonable prices and a large market.

We cannot talk about the resort town of Costa Blanca without mentioning its historical centre, the Old Town.  In Calpe it is not very big but it is away from the sea, very cosy, and most importantly, it has the "same atmosphere" of a city with a centuries-old history. In Calpe you can feel the footprint of the passage of different civilizations as you walk along its typical seafaring streets and in the old town you will see the remains of the wall that protected the city from Muslim attacks. Calpe is not just leisure, beach and gastronomy, it’s a city where you lose your senses and enjoy the essence of life.
